Juan Muñoz is the Out-of-School Time Program Manager for CentroNia’s Before and After School Program and camps. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, he discovered early on his passion for giving back to immigrant children in his community while serving as a Sunday school teacher. Over the years, Juan has been able to help children in his community improve their literacy skills and self-confidence during his tenure at the Perth Amboy Recreation Center of Performing Arts. Juan was a member of the Howard University Gospel Choir, Newsman Club, Howard Players and is a member of the Golden International Honour Society. After completing his internship at The Kennedy Center and obtaining his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Howard University, Juan was brought in as an Art and History Instructor at CentroNia where he created an innovative curriculum that introduced foundational art concepts and its development throughout history in a way that would engage the students. Today, Juan manages and is responsible for developing creative and engaging lesson plans that reinforce STEAM.
Juan wishes to pursue his master in Scenic Design in Theater Arts and hopes to continue to boost students’ self-confidence, literacy, and self-expression through the Arts.
