The avocado, or “alligator pear” which is what many children call it because of its dark green bumpy skin, is such a versatile fruit that tastes great with anything, in California rolls, salads, on toast etc.

Not only is it loaded with nutrients that benefit our heart, for those that care about beauty, the avocado, is loaded with monounsaturated fats that is great for keeping skin soft and young.

Whenever friends come by or a football game’s on, bring this homemade avocado salsa and never return to the store-bought ones again!

Simple Avocado Salsa

  • 1 avocado, peeled, pitted, smashed
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 onion, diced
  • 1 tsp jalapeño, chopped (optional, if you like it to be hot)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  1. Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl. Serve with tortilla chips.
