A fat-free alternative to ice cream? Yes! It’s sorbet! Sorbet is normally just frozen ice, but unfortunately, many commercial brands still have a ridiculous amount of sugar in them.
Here we have an easy and low sugar sorbet recipe for you. No ice cream machine, just a blender/ food processor! How did we do it? Fruit choices are important! Fruits that are fleshy and smooth such as strawberries and mango have better results. You can also use less sugar if you choose fruits that are originally sweet and ripe. Choose your favorite fruits, taste the mixture before freezing, it’s completely personal and up to you!
Suggested combinations: Strawberry and Banana, Mango and papaya, Pineapple and coconut juice
Fruit Sorbet (Serves 6)
- Combine frozen fruit, sugar and liquid in a food processor until smooth. Add more liquid if it is too icy and hard to process.
- Taste the mixture, pour into a container and freeze until set. For smoother texture, mix the icy mixture once in a while until it sets.
- Before serving, transfer to the fridge for about 15 mins to soften.
