About The Family Center

A pillar of CentroNía’s Community Engagement & Education department, the Family Center serves as a resource for the parents of the children of CentroNía, as well as other members of the community. The Family Center provides various educational opportunities to adults through workshops and classes focusing on topics such as parent leadership, adult education, child safety, child abuse prevention, employment readiness, financial responsibility, and technology. The Family Center also offers advocacy, referrals, and case management services for clients to help with a variety of needs.

Through partnerships with other services providers in DC and Maryland, the Family Center team works to ensure families find services they need, such as: legal aid, health care, financial assistance, counseling, immigration support, and case management.

Workshops and training are developed and curated according to the needs of the community. These opportunities allow families to learn more about a wide range of topics from parenting skills, child development, adult basic education, computer classes, and English language courses.

Our staff are prepared to act on issues facing our community and allow for families to share their voice through focus groups and town hall meetings in order to ensure the services we provide and the resources available in our community are adequate and helpful to those we serve.
