On July 15th, 2021, CentroNía was proud to host Congressman Anthony Brown at our Maryland center! Congressman Brown, who represents Maryland’s fourth congressional district which makes up portions of Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County, hosted a roundtable with parents, child care providers such as CentroNía, and other local officials to mark the beginning of monthly Child Tax Credit payments and discuss the CTC’s importance for families.

Congressman Brown speaks with CentroNía parents.

“Children and families are our top priority as we continue our recovery. This money will help set America’s children up for success and put more money in the pockets of hardworking parents to use for child care, summer programs, school supplies, food, rent, clothes, and other necessities,” said Congressman Brown. “This is how we help families get back on their feet, fight poverty and truly build back better.” (anthonybrown.house.gov)

CentroNía staff and families have been thrilled to see that policymakers recognize the urgent need to support children, working families, and childcare providers. For 35 years, CentroNía’s inclusive approach to early learning and wraparound support services has helped families access high-quality child care and community resources and gain the skills they need to improve their lives and the lives of their children. This is especially critical now, as our families work to recover from the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
