In anticipation of 2020 and the start to a new decade, I want to convey my gratitude for the unwavering compassion, strength, and commitment of the CentroNía community over the past year.

This year, we saw firsthand how high-quality early childhood education and family support services transform lives. We saw how CentroNía supported a mother’s pursuit of her dreams and inspired a love of learning in her children, how affordable care made the experience of family reunification sweeter for a dedicated father, and how enthusiastic volunteers strengthen our community.

By the end of the 2018-2019 school year, more than 90% of CentroNía’s graduating Pre-K class had achieved school-readiness, so it was no surprise when the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education published its quality ratings, just last month, and designated our Upshur St. and Columbia Rd. centers as among the top five percent of centers recognized as high-quality under the new DC rating system.

You—our incredible donors, staff, volunteers, and supporters—are the thread that connects all of these stories of care and transformation. None of this would be possible without you. Because of your compassion and generosity, over 600 children and their families walk through CentroNía’s doors each day, eager for the opportunity to learn and grow.

The need for early childhood and family support services continues to grow, however. For every child we serve at CentroNía, there are four on our waitlist. In the coming year, we’ll take on new challenges as we seek to expand the reach of our programs. With your help, we’ll continue to advocate for early learners and the advancement of low-income, working families in our region and beyond.

Once again, I’m grateful beyond words for your support and look forward to our continued journey to deliver high-quality education and serve the needs of even more low-income, working families in 2020.
