CentroNía is excited to welcome Rebecca (“Becca”) Murday to the board of directors. Rebecca is an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Born and raised in California, Rebecca moved to Washington, DC after graduating from law school. Once established in the area and in her career, Rebecca wanted to be more involved in the community where she lived. During an event where potential board members meet with organizations all over the city, Rebecca had the chance to speak to CentroNía President and CEO Myrna Peralta. After a great conversation at the event, Mryna followed up with Rebecca and invited her to visit CentroNía’s headquarters in Columbia Heights.

This wasn’t the first time Rebecca had heard of CentroNía. As a former high school teacher and Teach For America alumna, she knew about the organization through friends in her education network. “I’ve heard great things about CentroNía as a leader in early childhood education,” Rebecca said. “When I visited, I quickly realized CentroNía was doing much more than just providing early education. The holistic approach I saw focused on the whole family and the health of the community. It was remarkable to witness. I knew I wanted to be part of the mission to serve families in a diverse, multicultural environment.”

Rebecca has always believed that investing in children and families is the most important thing we can do as a country and she is very excited to share in CentroNía’s vision where she hopes to raise awareness about the importance of affordable, accessible education and support services for young children and their families. When she is not advocating for children and families, Rebecca enjoys event-planning and hiking.

CentroNía is excited to welcome Rebecca to its Board of Directors!
