Monday, May 11, 2015 – Parents, teachers and community members joined The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) director, Steve Barnett, alongside U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan to unveil the 2014 State of Preschool Report at our Takoma Park, MD center. The event started off with remarks by CentroNía President & CEO Myrna Peralta, followed by NIEER Director, Steve Barnett, who shared the main highlights of this year’s report which demonstrated the need to continue working hard to improve access and quality for Early Childhood Education services. Mirna and Troy, preschool parents, also had the opportunity to share their experiences at CentroNía and the benefits of having their kids enrolled in an Early Childhood program during a Q&A section. Lastly, our soon to be graduate preschoolers enjoyed some reading time with Secretary Arne Duncan who read “Mr. Tiger Goes Wild” with them. CentroNía was honored to host this great event where Early Childhood Education was priority!
