Technology Programs
State-of-the-art lab providing technology access and training to children, youth, families, and staff.
We believe that the informed use of interactive communication tools and resources, such as the Internet, can affect positive change in our community, creating new opportunities for learning and productivity that improve the quality of individual and community life.
Our Networked Learning Center provides technology access and training to children, youth, families, staff, and community members. The Networked Learning Center works with educators and youth counselors to incorporate technology-based learning activities into each of the organization's programs.
In the past year, CentroNía has joined in a community-wide technology access initiative called the Digital Community Project, which uses the Networked Learning Center as its site for training in computer and Internet basics. Launched in late summer 2000 by the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative and One Economy Corporation, the Digital Community Project (The Project) expands neighborhood technology access across racial and economic lines. The Project seeks to:
- Support the development of multiple integrated points of access to technology
- Build individual and organizational capacity to use technology
- And create multilingual online content capable of helping people improve their standard of living and end their social and economic isolation.
