Our Organization: Mission, Principles and Structure
Our planning process has helped reaffirm our mission and principles and design an internal structure that allows us to better manage the many services and programs we offer. We hoped to give children, youth and families a greater understanding of what is available to them, provide staff with a more organized system of accountability and ultimately reduce redundancy and duplication thus assuring a more responsible use of resources.
CentroNía's educational model is based on four central values that inform all of our activities:
1- Social Justice, working to ensure that every child receives a high quality education regardless of socio-economic background.
2- Life-Long Learning, pursued by building a community where all teachers and staff are growing and learning along with the students.
3- Family Health and Economic Wellness, which informs all our work with families, and acknowledges that high quality education is impossible without a healthy, stable family environment.
4- Community Empowerment, the inclusion of those we serve in every aspect of program design and organizational strategy.
CentroNía delivers its numerous educational programs and accomplishes its mission of "educating children and youth and strengthening families in a bilingual, multicultural community" through four educational departments:
CentroNía retains the core guiding principles of the Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center, which are based on the following beliefs:
- Every person has a right to an accessible, quality education in a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment.
- Every person should be equipped to live in a diverse world and to strive for a just and humane society.
- Family members are essential partners in children's education.
- Effective communities value and respect the language, culture, and heritage of each member.
- Every member of the community can contribute to its strength and excellence by a commitment to life-long learning.
- When we collaborate with other organizations, we build stronger communities.
