Healthy Families DC
Provided in partnership with Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Health, For Love of Children, the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative, Healthy Babies Project and Children's National Medical Center, Healthy Families DC offers intensive home visitation for new parents. The focus of the home visits is on helping families to develop positive parent child relationships, enhancing parenting skills and understanding child development. Developmental screens are performed with children to ensure they are developing on target and to identify early on any possible developmental delays. Family Support Workers help families identify short-term goals and then assist with referrals and support in achieving these goals. HFDC Calvary also organizes monthly playgroups and outings to activities in the greater DC area.
