Family Room Inauguration: April 15th, 2005

Washington, DC - The Family/Community Development Institute (FCDI) officially inaugurated the new Family Room on April 15th at CentroNía. The event gave the community an opportunity to celebrate the programs that the FCDI offers to parents, staff and the community in general, and to learn about the Family Room’s new resources: two state of the art computers; an ever-growing library with bilingual educational films and a DVD/VCR flat screen TV.

Amid the festivities, food and fun, families also received books and other informational materials. Eight families received refurbished computers, and one college-bound youth received a laptop. Two parents gave personal testimonies of the challenges and triumphs of parenthood and how CentroNía’s various programs offered them the chance to improve their lives. CentroNía thanks the Mexican Consulate for the book donations, SPARK DC for the different gifts, and everyone who assisted in the inauguration’s organization.
