CentroNía
in Maryland
In response to the significant
growth of the immigrant and low income communities in
Montgomery County, CentroNía has embarked in
an expansion effort that seeks to bring much needed
early childhood, out of school time and family support
services within reach of these families.
The communities of Langley
and Takoma Park are made up of some of the fastest growing
suburban neighborhoods in the Washington metropolitan
area, mirroring the national trend of immigrants moving
directly to the inner suburbs rather than to major cities.
These suburban neighborhoods of Montgomery County are
now home to families from Central and South America,
the Caribbean, North Africa and East Asia.
Opened in June 2007, our new location
at 1345 University Boulevard includes a fully licensed
early care and education center currently serving 26
children ages 2 – 5 and slated to grow to 100
children by 2008. This site also includes a community
room available for community events, family gatherings
and serves as a training site for various social service
organizations. The family resource center is also slated
to open in 2008.
